Day Tripping at Tugun

Southern Gold Coast

Nestled between Currumbin and Bilinga is one of the Southern Gold Coast’s best-kept secrets, Tugun.

With a small village vibe, friendly locals, hidden gems and of course, the beach, there are so many things to love about this small slice of paradise. These are our top picks for the day trippers.

People travel far and wide for a Niche and Co breakfast. From award-winning acai bowls to a vegan-friendly menu, there is no better place to kick start the day.

Find the best of both worlds at Tugun Fruit and Flowers, a local hotspot that not only offers bunches of bright blooms and beautiful seasonal produce but some of the best fresh juices in town.

Take a relaxing stroll or cycle along the new Bilinga to Tugun Oceanway. The 1.7km path serves up uninterrupted beachfront views of the coastline. Venture off the path onto Tugun Beach, an absolute must for those wanting to sink their toes in sand, soak up the sun or have a dip in the crystal-clear ocean.

Recharge your batteries at House of Hubert, a local favourite renowned for sustainable and seasonal produce straight from the farm to your fork.

Feeling creative? Book ahead and secure your spot in a 3-hour make session at Pot Studios. Situated just off the beaten track behind the Bowls Club, create your own one-of-a-kind item to mark your time in Tugun.

Shop in the relaxing new precinct, Cornerstone Stores – a collection of boutique stores guaranteeing a range of treasures. Find everything from beautiful baby and children’s designs at Little Loves to unique, hard to find items at Kind Curations and jaw-dropping cheeses to take home from Quince Fromagerie

Blend authentic Thai food with Tugun’s coastal setting and you have a match made in heaven at Sticky Rice. Be sure to book ahead though – it’s so good that it’s in high demand!

Finish off the day with a cold one at Backbone Bar, where you'll find craft beers on tap and wine paired with a menu of delicious Japanese bites, or Lucia Tapas Garden for a taste of Spain by the sea.

We've given you just a taste of what you'll discover on the Southern Gold Coast at Tugun here, to whet your appetite for more. Make sure you add it to your must-do day tripping list.
