The Queensland Choir presents Sounds of the Season: A Choral Christmas, on Saturday, December 16, set against the backdrop of Brisbane's historic Old Museum Building, Bowen Hills.

Under the skillful direction of conductor Kevin Power, the Queensland Choir promises an evening filled with the magic of Christmas melodies. The audience is not merely spectators but active participants in this musical celebration. The program includes beloved carols such as Away in a Manger, O Come All Ye Faithful, The First Noel, and Joy to the World, with ample opportunities for the audience to join their voices in unison, accompanied by the majestic sounds of the organ and the brilliance of the joyful emsemble.

This concert promises to be a delightful showcase of Brisbane's premier choir, the Sinfonia Brass Quintet, and organist Eduarda van Klinken. Annika Hinrichs, gifted soprano soloist and a rising star in Brisbane's musical scene, adds her luminous voice to the festivities, captivating the audience in renditions of O Holy Night and other solo seasonal songs. Her presence, along with the unaccompanied performances by the Queensland Choir, brings a touch of magic and elegance to this joyous occasion.

As Kevin Power enlightens the audience on the historical significance of carol singing, from its controversial past to its revival by the Victorians, the Queensland Choir transports everyone to a time-honored tradition of celebrating Christmas through song. The concert is not just a musical event; it is a journey through the rich history and cultural tapestry of Christmas carols.

Sounds of the Season: A Choral Christmas is a magical experience that bridges the past and present, inviting the audience to become part of a cherished tradition. This concert not only celebrates the holiday season but also showcases Brisbane's wealth of musical talent. Don't miss the chance to be enveloped in the warmth of choral music and festive cheer.
