After sell-out seasons around the world, beloved children’s fantasy tale The Gruffalo returns to the Gardens Theatre QUT this September school holiday.
Derived from the Gold award-winning book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, the enchanting musical stage adaptation (winner of Sydney Theatre Awards Best Production for Children 2015) is set to dazzle audiences with brand new sets and costumes.
Full of laughs, songs and fun for children aged 3 and upwards, The Gruffalo features a trio of bright new performers who will fill the forest with colourful characters and toe tapping, sing-along songs.
Young audiences will delight in following the monster story of the clever little mouse trapped in a forest full of scary predators. While she manages to scare away hungry animals with her invented tales of the terrifying Gruffalo, she doesn’t count on coming face to face with the very monster she created.
Nice to know - This monster of a show beautifully captures the magic of Donaldson and Scheffler’s adored “modern classic” (The Observer). The Australian production has also attracted critical acclaim, with the Sydney Morning Herald calling it "funny, charming and smart... brings the house down", while the Courier Mail said "While your children are having a whale of a time... you will too!"
Need to know - Children 18 months and under are free, when seated on a parent’s or carer’s lap.
