One of Australia’s best-known and most-loved plays, Hotel Sorrento is a funny, heart-warming and honest look behind closed doors, playing at QUT Gardens Theatre for two nights in September as part of a national tour.
Written by one of Australia’s most significant playwrights, Hannie Rayson, this reinvigorated production is directed by award-winning director, Denny Lawrence, who heads the production team after his recent successes including tours of Glorious!, Shirley Valentine and Always…Patsy Cline.
The accomplished cast includes some well-known faces from Australia stage and screen, including veteran actor and former Home and Away star Dennis Coard, Joanne Booth (House Husbands), Ruth Caro (Home and Away, The Glass Menagerie) and Kim Denman (All My Love, West Side Story).
This modern classic tells the story of three sisters reunited after 10 years apart, living in very different worlds. This family reunion in the quiet, seaside town of Sorrento is not a happy one though, bringing old wounds to life.
A powerful play about family and the importance of blood-ties and collective memory (real or imagined), Hotel Sorrento will resonate with the audience long after the final curtain call.
Nice to know - Hotel Sorrento is presented by HIT Productions as part of QUT Gardens Theatre’s 2018 theatre season.
