The Real Housewives Of Brisbane - The Musical
Brisbane Arts Theatre
Tacky reality TV meets theatre when The Real Housewives of Brisbane: The Musical hits the stage at Brisbane Arts Theatre, June 24 – August 5.
There are sure to be plenty of laughs and cringes when the familiar stereotypes of the franchised ‘Real Housewives’ TV series are given a specifically Brisbane take. Witness these shameless women lie, cheat and - best of all - sing their way through a highly-entertaining musical.
In a world saturated with reality TV about any skill (or lack of it), this production turns things on its head with a stage show about a reality TV show. There’s the perfect wife, the frenemy, the mutton dressed as lamb, a mysterious foreigner, and a woman of questionable sexuality. Audiences can have the guilty pleasure of watching these self-obsessed attention seekers with their personality clashes, pharmaceutical and plastic surgery habits, among other things.
The original Real Housewives: The Musical was created in Los Angeles by writer Molly Bell, with this production under Artistic Director John Boyce adapting the source material to work in some Brissie components. You’re encouraged to “have plenty of bubbly to lubricate a raucously funny evening out with friends and frenemies alike”. It’ll be scandalous!
Need to know - Shows are only on Sundays (Jun 24, Jul 1, 8, 15, 29, Aug 5), Mondays (Jun 25, Jul 2, 9, 16 & 30) and Thursday Jul 5.
