Stir Down is a pocket-sized super chic cocktail lounge tucked away down the end of California Lane in Fortitude Valley.
By the savvy owners of Viva La Cali, the cool and funky Latin American bar across the lane, Stir Down is minimalist in every sense, from the seating (for 20) and furnishings to the nine house cocktails* and the six bespoke snacks on offer.
The tiny space is split level, with casual seating in the 'foyer' adjacent to a long narrow sunken room with banquettes and tables along one wall and glass plate windows overlooking the lane,
The carefully curated selection of cocktails are the creation of mixologist and owner Marc Grey and include the likes of Macha Man (gin, matcha, Greek yoghurt & vanilla); BAE (lemon myrtle gin, bay leaf, celery bitters and sea salt).
Others on offer include Doughnut Time (Jameson Stout, chocolate doughnut, maple & coffee bitter) or Tzatziki Tiki (gin, tzatziki mix, olive brine, green chartreuse & lemon peel), and for the less adventurous, classic cocktails* are also available.
There is also a small wine list, and no visit should be without enjoying some of the delicious snacks offer, such as focaccia with burnt butter and tomato salt; or fried brie, romanesco and pickled cucumber.
Good to know - The signature cokctail list will rotate every three months. Stir Down is also available for functions.
Need to know - There are no reservations, walk-ins only.
