Banneton Bakery Cafe

Ashgrove

Chandler Corner, a tiny pocket of shops set back from Waterworks Road, contains local treasure Banneton Bakery which takes double honours as both a bakery and a cafe.

Their loaves – Latvian rye, sourdough, ciabatta and baguettes - are largely baked in a wood-fired oven or upon stones in their special oven and as a result this is arguably one of the best bakeries in the inner west.

Yet the pastries are also a drawcard and go down well with a coffee for those who want to linger - try the delicious timbales, croissants, bagels or tarts with a side of newspaper or company.
