SUGAR CANE LOUNGE IN ASHGROVE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Sugar Cane Coffee Lounge in West Ashgrove adds a unique and exotic dimension to the dining scene in this area.
A range of sweet treats such as chocolate fudge cake, orange and blueberry cake, almond fanciers and muffins are sourced from artisan bakeries whilst light meals include options like quiche, wraps, toasties and Moroccan pie with salad.
Fresh salads are made onsite daily and gluten free meal options are included on the menu. Byron Bay teas and Newstead's Blue Skies coffee are served here, along with a range of cold drinks. Kids are catered for with kid-sized milkshakes, babychinos, delightfully decorated biscuits and gravel chocolate (this tastes a lot better than it sounds) to keep them happy. Large glass jars on the counter top display tempting treats like Turkish delight and baklava.
Seating options include snug tables inside, a long communal table outside or smaller tables in the arcade where pendant lights and hanging baskets create an outdoorsy feel. Beautifully coloured lights, lamps, authentic Persian rugs, a Persian water fountain and live music (some evenings) all add to the mysterious and quirky vibe found here.

*At the time of visiting in August 2016, Sugar Cane Coffee Lounge opens on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Thursday nights are shisha and sweets nights - shisha is flavoured and tobacco free. On Friday evenings the coffee lounge remains open for light meals, desserts and coffee. Rani's curries are served on Saturday nights, as well as light meals, snacks and sweets - BYO drinks.
