A kind of supermarket of the future, Sourced is a bright cavernous warehouse space chock full of both locally grown and eco-friendly groceries, incorporating a cafe bakery and a walk-in cold room stacked with cheeses, eggs and vegetables.
Ferns line an unpainted besser block wall, the floor is shiny pine and one whole side is open to let in natural light which, along with the nearby sourcing of food, keeps the eco footprint on the small side.
In keeping with their philosophy the majority of goods come from south-east Queensland and northern NSW regions, with the lion’s share of the fruit and veges organic, as are the divine sourdough loaves which hail from Morningside’s Leavain Bakery.
Similarly there is nothing mass-produced to be found here, from smallgoods such as Eumundi smokehouse sausages handmade by a third generation Russian sausage maker, to local family-owned Fat Hen olive oil, Gundowring ice-cream and Maya Sunny honeycomb.
Meantime the baristas at the little café bakery are kept busy churning out some of the best coffee in Teneriffe (using a special bean blend from Brother Espresso) while patrons hang at the community trestle table or window ledge inhaling pastries courtesy of New Farm French star Chouquette.
