Shucks Bar

Manly

Shucks Bar is an oyster and wine bar offering a unique fresh seafood experience to Manly locals, as one of the 10% of Australian restaurants that serves freshly shucked oysters.

The harbour-side restaurant is nestled in the Manly Pavilion, with a nautical themed, open-plan space. There is booth seating, bar seating and general dining tables available. On a nice day, it’s a great idea to sit along the bar overlooking the Manly harbour – the perfect location to enjoy some fresh seafood.

As expected, oysters are the highlight of the menu with a selection of raw and cooked oysters to choose from. Ordering oysters from each of the three regions with a tasting platter (Moreton Bay in QLD, Coffin Bay in SA and Pipe Clay Lagoon in TAS) is definitely a must do, whilst all are delicious in their own way, you can certainly taste the difference between the three. The raw are served with lemon, mignonette and fermented hot sauce.

If you prefer a cooked oyster, try out either a grilled served with green garlic butter, cured served with lime, chilli and coriander, or their fried oyster served with spicy remoulade.

The crunchy jumbo prawns are super-sized, and, served with a spicy green salsa verde, make for a delectable appetiser.

For an Asian twist on seafood sink your teeth into the snapper sashimi, dressed with pomegranate, lime and coriander.

Don’t leave Shucks before trying their specialty crème brulèed cornbread, served with maple butter and Maldon salt though – be assured that you’ve never tasted anything like it. It’s a fantastic accompaniment to a feed of oysters.

On the beverage menu is a list of Australian wines perfectly paired with seafood, local beers and ciders.

Need to know – Nearby parking is available.

Nice to know – All oysters are shucked to order.
