The Produce Bulk Foods

Ashgrove

THE PRODUCE AT ASHGROVE HAS CLOSED.

Step inside The Produce Bulk Foods at Ashgrove to find an Aladdin's cave of organic, preservative and pesticide-free foods stored in bulk bins, where shoppers help themselves to exactly what they need the old-fashioned way.

As well as an amazing range of foods, the slick spacious family run store also has self-care and household cleaning items for sale.

The rows of bulk bins hold all manner of nuts, seeds, grains, cereals, snack foods, flours and pastas that you can purchase in the exact amount you need using the paper bags provided or BYO containers. And those with particular dietary requirements will likely find that obscure or hard-to-find ingredient here.

Whilst there are plenty of tempting savoury snack options to choose from, sweet tooths should try the organic white chocolate coated strawberries - these alone are worth the trip to The Produce.

At the rear of the store, sauces, oils, vinegars, honey and maple syrup are stored in large black metal drums, made by Alderley company, Tinkers World. Here there's also a peanut butter maker that shoppers can use to make their own peanut butter. Another innovative addition is the All Real Food station of refrigerated raw salad items.*

Eco-friendly home products and a beauty range can also be found here, where products are sourced from local businesses where possible.

The store also has its own cafe, serving salads, light lunches, raw treats, bliss balls, acai bowls, smoothies, crushes and fresh cold pressed juices. The Mother Earth juice is a popular choice, made from beetroot, carrot, celery, apple, orange and ginger. Organic Fair Trade coffee is served and organic milk choices include Barambah soy, almond, coconut and lactose free. Kids will love their smoothies with names like the Purple Monster and the Chocolate Gorilla.

Customers can choose to take away or dine in, with a children's play area at the back of the store giving Mums and Dads an opportunity to enjoy something from the cafe and to do some shopping. Four-legged friends are also taken care of here with a water bowl and lead post supplied just outside the entrance to the store.

And, for customers who can't make it into the store, online shopping and home delivery services (free for over $100 purchases) are available.

Need to know -  In a bid to reduce waste, biodegradable or recyclable packaging is used in store and customers are encouraged to bring in their own containers to be filled. Alternatively, the store sells glass containers or supplies biodegradable paper bags.  The beauty of this kind of shopping is that you buy only the quantity that you really need and pay by weight accordingly.

The Produce Bulk Foods Ashgrove

Nice to know - Being locals, co-owners of The Produce Bulk Foods, Angelo Falco and Kelly Duffy identified the need for such a business in their local area and have set about making the dream a reality. With Angelo being the creative force in the partnership, he has designed the store's interior and it's looking bright, slick and fresh. Why not call in and check out the amazing range on offer at The Produce Bulk Foods? You're guaranteed to be welcomed warmly by Kelly, Rachel and the team.
