George Clayton Park

Wynnum

Also known as the Lighthouse Park due to the landmark red lighthouse play tower, George Clayton Park is a splendid park/playground on the cusp of Manly and Wynnum and at the junction of Upper & Lower Esplanades.

As well as its proximity to the sea its many charms include its colourful flower beds, little bridges leading to Bandstand Park on the other side of a tiny gully and the vast lawn expanses made for ballgames.

The playground itself is a series of well-shaded sand-based lots with equipment mostly aimed at younger children – a puzzle board, sea creature-themed fortress, slides and climbing frames, a fantastic sand play apparatus and a state of the art hurdy gurdy. And the piece de resistance, the four metre high 'lighthouse' has an internal spiral staircase that will keep older kids entertained at length.

Need to know - There are also barbecues, picnic facilities and the all-important amenities block.
