UPDATE: GALLERY B CLOSED IN LATE 2019

In the unlikeliest location out back of the True Value Hardware store in Newmarket lies an absolute hidden treasure: Gallery B - an exotic Aladdin’s cave packed with exquisite wares from tiffany lamps, shawls and jewels to leather shoes, bags and silver cigarette lighters.

And occupying one corner and a little balcony outside is the tiniest of cafes. In keeping with the shop goods it too has an air of the exotic, featuring Turkish coffee or apple tea and a lone cabinet of premise-baked cakes such as tiramisu or chocolate mud.

Adjacent to the wafer thin balcony is a deck with communal table and both afford sweeping views out to the Taylor Ranges and the Paddington hills. But be sure to take in the views inside the shop as the eclectic collection includes vintage art deco lamps and figurines, handcrafted jewellery, Guess bags, Cuban cigars and Turkish tea sets.
