Camerata - Up Close
The Edge, Slq
Get up close and personal with Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, Camerata, when they play a stunning intimate concert, Up Close, at The Edge, State Library of Queensland, Sunday June 3.
Performing without a conductor, Camerata have wowed audiences with their ground-breaking performances that have a reputation for being passionate and exciting. In Up Close, you’ll be treated to a range of beautiful music where the motto is “small is beautiful”.
The music includes Glière’s Suite for Violin and Double Bass, and the fusing of sensual jazz and contemporary classical music in Frank Proto’s 1974 Trio for Violin, Viola and Double Bass. Brahms’s brilliant Sextet in B Flat Major, Opus 18, written when the music legend was still only in his 20s, will also receive the refreshing Camerata treatment.
Camerata, founded in 1987 by acclaimed string educator, Elizabeth Morgan A.M., were nominated for a prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Chamber and/or Instrumental Ensemble Concert in 2016, so this is a must-see concert for lovers of fine music. Take the chance to see these virtuosic players doing what they love best in a special intimate setting of The Edge at State Library of Queensland.
Nice to know – There will also be a concert in Toowoomba at the Empire Theatre, Friday June 1.
