Island Vibe Festival

Point Lookout

Island Vibe Festival is Australia’s best boutique Reggae and Roots event held at a stunning beachside location on North Stradbroke Island from October 25 to 28.

Held over four glorious days on Home Beach at Point Lookout, Island Vibe is much more than a music festival.

This family-friendly, all-inclusive cultural event features an exciting and interactive program of music, arts and culture.

The festivities kick off Thursday night with an opening party at the Chai ‘n’ Vibes tent, starting with a traditional Quandamooka smoking ceremony, followed by a night of dancing and live soul and funk music.

Over the next few days, festival goers can take part in sustainability talks and eco workshops, as well as interactive workshops like traditional weaving, contemporary and traditional dance; while entertainment includes roving performers, cabaret acts, art exhibitions, craft markets and fun activities for children.

This year’s Island Vibe Festival is a kaleidoscope of musical talent with more than 80 acts, from roots and reggae, soul and funk, to dancehall and drum n’ bass; including France’s reggae superstar Naâman, Torres Strait’s mesmerising guitar virtuoso Chris Tamwoy, and Sydney’s very own rocksteady reggae legends King Tide.

An eco-event, the festival aims to preserve the fragile eco system of North Stradbroke (Minjerribah) with refill water stations, bike hire, bio-fuel generators, solar-powered stage, composting toilets and a recycling centre. Taking it one step further, there will be a ban on single-use plastics such as straws, cups and bags.

Need to know - Camping and ferry transfers are not included in the ticket price. There are a number of accommodation options on the island including 6 campgrounds and 2 beach camps. Children under 13 are free.

Nice to know - A first for the festival this year will be the inclusion of the Grounded Permaculture Retreat, which will take place in the lead-up to Island Vibe. This five-day retreat, from Oct 21-25, will be limited to 12 lucky participants who want to grow their connection with country and immerse in local community.
