Metro Hotel Ipswich International

Ipswich

Ipswich certainly has upgraded its image in recent years, including the addition of the six-storey Metro Hotel Ipswich International right in the centre of town.

Located next door to the Ipswich Civic Centre, venue for many major theatre and musical events, it’s the ideal headquarters for a short or long term stay in the heritage city just 40 minutes’ drive from Brisbane.

Ipswich is renowned for its array of charming historical public buildings and homes, and it’s nice to treat yourself to some contemporary air-conditioned comfort while you’re there. The 4½ star hotel is well appointed, has tasteful minimalist décor and is a popular spot for events such as wedding receptions and conferences.

There are views from some rooms up to Denmark Hill where there’s the landmark water tower overlooking the city (which you can climb for stunning 360 views), while others look out to the stunning D’Aguilar Range or to local suburban views.

All rooms are appointed with internet access, LCD TV with cable channels, and minibar. Choose from a Superior Room with either a queen bed or two singles or if the thought of relaxing in a spa appeals, there’s the Spa Suite, which offers a queen bed and a two-person corner spa in the bathroom. For family groups you can also book an apartment with that all-important kitchenette so you can keep the meal prices down, TV with DVD player, and complimentary Wi-Fi and parking.

The hotel has friendly and approachable staff and its own popular bar and restaurant, Platform 9, on the ground floor serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s also a short walk to a host of local bars, cafes and restaurants as well as the acclaimed Ipswich Art Gallery, cinema multiplex and the eclectic Top of Town shopping area.
