Stokehouse Restaurant

South Brisbane

Stokehouse Q has permanently closed in 2020.

In prime position on the water in the exclusive South Bank River Bend precinct, Stokehouse is a class act on every level.

Its stunning boat house architecture, indoor-outdoor dining space where every table has a river or city view, impeccable service and top notch food and wine make for the quintessential Brisbane dining experience.

Stockhouse Brisbane's entrance on the Brisbane River

Stokehouse Executive Chef Richard Ousby has honed a menu that showcases the best of Queensland and regional Australian produce - think Darling Downs Barcoo pork, Stradbroke honey, Victorian Shaw River mozzarella and South Australian Pendleton olives – with plenty to please everyone.

Crudo of fresh lime, chamomile and black pepper on a plate

To enhance the experience Stokehouse’s in-house sommelier is on hand to recommend the perfect wine pairings for every dish, selected from the restaurant’s outstanding wine menu.

For Starters the stand-outs are Fresh Oysters, Fried Mozzarella and tomato chutney or Fresh Endive with whipped herb crème fraiche and Cyprus sea salt; while for Entrée recommended is the sublime Crudo of fresh lime, chamomile and black pepper or the Spanner Crab, sweet corn veloute, lemon, radish, coriander and jalapeno salsa.

A small selection of Pasta includes Truffle and Mushroom Agnolotti, with goat curd and sourdough crumble or Grass-fed Cheek Ragu with herb pappardelle.

Mains range from Panko Crumbed Gurnard with pickled vegetables, chips, lime aioli and slaw (a kind of upmarket fish’n’chips) to Roasted Pork Loin with witlof gratin and pickled carrot and raisin salad to Eye Fillet with herb gnocchi, sugar roasted red onion, spinach and horseradish butter.

Must try are side dishes like the Charred Brussel Sprouts with Ewes Milk Yoghurt and cherry vinegar (guaranteed to convert the most diehard Brussel sprout hater) and the Baked Field Mushrooms, chilli, anchovies, garlic, fresh herbs and vincotto.

Meanwhile desserts at Stokehouse are in their own heavenly realm – aside from the hard-to-go-past house signature The Bombe (frozen white chocolate parfait with strawberry sorbet, encased in toasted meringue), highly recommended are the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with fresh berries, pistachio, raspberry sorbet and mulled wine and the Valrhona 64% Chocolate Mousse with marmalade, orange sorbet and hazelnut.

There’s also a selection of cheese – served with muscatels, quince, fruit and nut loaf and lavosh, the perfect accompaniment to a glass of Portuguese Tawny Port, French Grenache or Victorian Muscat.

Dessert wine from Italy, France, SA and Tasmania is also available by the glass or a choice of Liquid Desserts including Espresso or Mexicano Martini.

In a nutshell - Whether for a long weekend lunch in the winter sunshine or on a balmy summer night with the city lights as a back drop and cool river breezes, Stokehouse is the ideal destination for any special occasion.
