(not) The Last Night Of The Proms
Qpac
The Queensland Symphony Orchestra is presenting a night of flag-waving and festive tunes for the annual (Not) The Last Night of the Proms at QPAC Concert Hall on Thursday August 9 at 7.30pm.
Kick up your heels as the Orchestra perform a feast of music from across the world, including Gershwin’s jazzy Rhapsody in Blue and Sculthorpe’s striking Earth Cry, performed by Australia’s leading dijeridu player, William Barton.
On stage, pianist Jorge Viladoms will be making his Australian debut, and the orchestra will be lead by the masterful maestro, Alondra de la Parra.
The stunning vocals on the night will be courtesy of Brisbane Chorale, plus the promising Prossima Program students from Brisbane Girls Grammar will be gracing the stage.
In the great Proms tradition, this concert will feature a flurry of classic British tunes and an invitation to sing along, wave your flags and have fun. You’ll be smiling all the way home.
