Queensland’s iconic cabaret event WOMEN IN VOICE returns to Brisbane Powerhouse for four shows only on October 18-20.
Every year Women in Voice puts together a dynamic combination of Brisbane’s best female singers in a show unlike any other - blending styles and genres, taking audiences on a trip that is joyous, surprising, moving, funny and giving them what has been called ‘quite simply one of the best nights of music I've ever experienced’.
For over two decades*, Women in Voice has delighted loyal followers and each year the list of dedicated fans grows and grows.
“It's such a brilliant show with the most amazing talented woman that you will ever see. Once you go to one you will be hooked,” says founder and co-producer Annie Peterson.
This year’s line-up features the superb vocals of Leah Cotterell, Anje West [The View from Madeleine’s Couch] and Adelina Martinez, rising jazz vocal star who recently toured with James Morrison, as well as vocal powerhouse Hannah Grondin, recently seen in the sell-out season of ‘Rent’ at QPAC.
Joining them will be the deliciously quirky Christine Johnston [Ruddigore, The Kransky Sisters] and Queenie van de Zandt’s hilarious alter-ego, International Dutch Music Therapist Jan van de Stool as MC.
*Since its first outing as a low-fi cafe cabaret at West End's Sitting Duck Cafe in 1993, Women in Voice has become an annual cultural calendar highlight, attracting top talent and unearthing new stars. Some of the many legends who have graced the WIV stage throughout the years include Chrissie Amphlett, Deborah Conroy, Carol Lloyd, Jenny Morris, Katie Noonan, Naomi Price and Kate Miller-Heidke.
