Murder Mystery Express

Mary Valley Rattler
THIS EVENT IS NOW IN THE PAST. FOR MORE GREAT THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN AND AROUND BRISBANE, PLEASE HEAD TO OUR WHAT'S ON PAGE HERE

All aboard the vintage Mary Valley Rattler for a night of mystery, murder and old-fashioned glamour when the Murder Mystery Express departs historic Gympie Station at "witching hour" on Saturday July 20, 2024.

The fun event will provide a great opportunity to dress to the nines in 1920s glamour and glitter, and experience the nostalgic romance of the rails, as passengers steam through Mary Valley with a murderer on board.

The 1920s steam engine Sprit of the Mary Valley will depart Gympie Station and travel to the hinterland village of Amamoor, and, on the way, the murder mystery will unfold.

As the Spirit of the train winds its way back through the beautiful Mary Valley towards Gympie, passengers can plot and plan their way with fellow travellers to solve the murder, with money available for bribery and corruption. Solving the murder will test each passenger’s imagination and keep everyone on their toes.

A drinks cart will operate on board the Rattler with cheese plates provided for VIP ticket-holders, and dinner and a bottle of water to be collected from Gympie Station’s Rusty Rails Café prior to the journey (and to be consumed on board). There will be prizes for the passenger who solves the murder first, and also for best dressed and richest player as a result of their wheeling and dealing with the event money.

The dinner menu choices are: chicken and avocado sushi; chicken Caesar salad. or avocado and pickled vegetable sushi.

Need to know - Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available for purchase. The event is restricted to passengers 18+.
