Southside

South Brisbane

Southside is a multi-level Pan Asian urban oasis tucked away under the South Brisbane railway bridge in Fish Lane's Town Square precinct.

From the team behind Rick Shores and Little Valley, Southside occupies a Richard Spence-designed building adjacent to a tropical urban garden that it shares with sibling Kiki (image below), a banh mi and coffee hut by day and cocktail bar by night.

The restaurant offers 2 levels of dining, with a private dining room on the third level that looks straight onto the train line. Serving East-Asian cuisine drawing on Chinese traditions, the menu features a range of dim sum noodle dishes and share plates, accompanied by wines from around the world.

The selection of Dim sum includes potato & truffle spring roll with spiced vinegar, lobster & chive or prawn & truffle har gow, chicken wonton with black vinagar & chilli oil or smoked pork & herb xiao long bao.

Noodle and rice dishes include Master Stock duck with house noodles and Benny's chilli, Char kway teow, Moreton Bay bug and lup cheong or Dan Dan noodle, wagyu beef and Strange Flavour sauce, while side include wok tossed morning glory and fermented chilli, smacked cucumber, shiso & sesame or charred roti bread.

From the share plate menu there's delicious choices like snapper, lotus leaf & soured onions; salt + pepper cuttlefish sandwich with house sriracha; Xin Jiang lamb 'kebab', roti bread & smoked yoghurt; king prawn, Singapore chilli style or Siu Yuk pork belly and native plum. And for dessert there are two options: pineapple custard bun or Vietnamese coffee tart.

Good to know - If you can't decide what to choose from all of the delectable offerings, there's an 8 course 'Feed Me' menu for $69pp, with the option to add matching wines for an extra $35pp or $49pp.
