Frog's Hollow Saloon

Brisbane CBD

Frog's Hollow Saloon is a stunning 12-metre whisky bar nestled on the upper floor of the heritage-listed John Reid & Nephews building in Brisbane City.

The bar takes its name from the district of Brisbane near the City Botanic Gardens, what was originally known as Frogs Hollow.*

The century-old warehouse retains features of a bygone Brisbane era, with the original floorboards, brick work, double sash windows and recycled timber adding to the saloon ambience.

The bar-centric venue is designed to encourage a relaxed and homey interaction between patrons and staff in true old-fashioned style.

Frog’s Hollow booze selection is run by Thiago Silva, formerly part of the team at Black Pearl, Captain Melville, and Mjolnir. As well as a large selection of whisky with a focus on independently bottled labels, there's a rotating selection of beers (such as Guinness and XXXX Gold on tap), a fun and fresh selection of cocktails, and a selective wine list favouring Australian producers.

The bar's delicious and simply balanced cocktails focus on being a small twist of the great classics, such as the Grimes & Petty - a twist on a classic Boulevardier, this delectable concoction is made with Makers Mark bourbon, Mr Black coffee liqueuer, Sweet Vermouth, and Orange Bitters.

Though the Frog's Hollow's back bar focuses on independently bottled whiskies, the menu involves maps that walk the guest through the regions of Scotch Whisky and what the team are drinking. That way, patrons can have a good look through the menu or simply just jump straight to the drams that the super experienced team of barkeeps like to throw back.

* In the convict days the area down in the vicinity of Alice St was a mangrove swamp known as Frog’s Hollow, through which a small creek ran on its way to the Alice St Ferry. Late the 19th century and early 20th century the area became a grungy red light warehouse district (with some warehouses still remaining) which retained the name of Frogs Hollow.
