Choose your own adventure with Mozart's Jupiter, with two concerts, two completely different experiences, and a whole new venue for Queensland Symphony Orchestra!

Mozart’s Jupiter, presented by QSO is splitting audiences by offering up two unique nights out at the Queensland Conservatorium in South Bank on March 1 and 2, 2024.

On Friday 1 March at 7.30pm,  QSO have a few surprises up their sleeve for those eager to explore Mozart’s compelling Jupiter symphony with a side of the unconventional. For the second performance on Saturday 2 March at 7.30pm, expect a more traditional orchestral experience, but not without some stunning ventures into the unexpected.

For the first performance on 1 March, Australian master pianist Andrea Lam will open the show with Beethoven’s moody Moonlight Sonata (you’ll know it when you hear it!).

Then the orchestra will present celebrated Hungarian composer, György Kurtág's eerie yet utterly mesmerising Quasi una fantasia. Audiences can also expect an alternative approach to a typical orchestral performance, so expect and embrace the unexpected!

For those who enjoy a traditional orchestral experience, the second performance of Jupiter on Saturday 2 March is for you. The concert will kick-off with the only Piano Concerto that Robert Schumann composed, tastefully and emotively traversed by pianist Andrea Lam.

Then explore a different perspective to the songs of a storm with Japanese admirer of the avant-garde, composer Tōru Takemitsu’s experimental Rain Tree. And as for the Jupiter? Named for the god of the sky and weather, Mozart’s Jupiter is as bold as thunder and as paramount to classical music as this chief deity of the Roman pantheon. You can expect spirit-lifting jollity interspersed with witty melodrama.

Still can't decide which to attend? Book your tickets to both and enjoy the gale force of sound and spectacle that is Queensland Symphony Orchestra!
