Samford BMX Track

Samford

Samford now has its very own pump track, situated between John Scott Park playground area and the Samford Museum, and it’s proving popular with locals and visitors alike.

Designed with the younger rider in mind, the asphalt pump track is a loop, with a number of alternate paths that cross the track, increasing the challenge for riders keen to put their skills to the test.

Banked turns (aka berms) and a sequence of undulating rollers have been carefully planned to suit the capabilities of even the youngest of BMX bandits and scooter riders.

If a quick exit is needed, there are quite a few spots along the concourse that are perfect for riders to just peel off onto the grass to catch their breath and plan their next trick to trial.

Heaps of elevated seating for parents to keep a watchful eye on activities is available and, best of all, most of it is in the shade.

If the pump track gets busy, kids can still get their ride on by tootling around the path that borders the green space.

Looking to make a day of it? The Samford District Historical Museum is on one side of the pump track (check opening times when planning), and the multi-age John Scott Park playground is on the other. Plus, a half-court basketball area (BYO ball) and free-to-use bbq facilities are within a stones throw.

Alternatively, Samford has a number of cool cafes & coffee spots for dine-in or take-away food and drinks to refuel and rehydrate.

Nice to know – There is plenty of free parking along Station Street. Toilet facilities are in sight of the track, as are drinking fountains.

Nice to know – In case you didn't know, a pump track is one that is designed for the rider to pump their body up and down to gain momentum as they travel the course, rather than to pedal or push.
