Brisbane's Best Nurseries

with Kimberley Busteed

There are many benefits of connecting to nature. Spending time surrounded by greenery improves your mood, relieves stress, reduces anxiety and increases overall happiness, which is why so many of us are filling our homes and gardens with various types of beautiful flora.

Brisbane is full of top-notch nurseries, and what better way to discover some of the best ones then with Queensland’s outdoorsy queen herself Kimberley Busteed. We spent the day cruising around Brisbane with the Channel 7 Weekender and Creek to Coast presenter, to hit all of her favourite green-centric spots in the Lexus RX. Plant lovers, we suggest you keep reading as you’ll want to add these stops to your next nursery hit list.

The Nurso
The Nurso

The Nurso is a funky indoor/outdoor garden centre and nursery in Chandler with a plethora of pots and plants, an on-site cafe, and wall to wall graffiti by local street artists. The 4.5ha site is filled with lush, foliage everywhere you look, offering something for all plant lovers, from cacti and camelias to calatheas. As Kimberley's local, she loves to visit with her family as there is plenty of space for the kids to run around, great coffee and regular plant-focused events to attend.

Rosalie Village Garden Centre

Tucked away behind two weatherboard shops in Rosalie Village is this charming garden centre where you'll find a wide range of house plants, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, and succulents. You can even browse a spectacular selection of garden accessories, pots and ornaments in various shapes, sizes and colours. Whether you're an avid gardener, newbie or simply looking for greenery to fill your yard or home, this is the place to go.

The Tropic Gardener
The Tropic Gardener

This boutique nursery offers a fabulous selection of succulents, cacti, tropical plants and flowering orchids. The Tropic Gardener stocks a wide range of garden accessories and even offers bespoke landscaping services for those in need of an extra ordinary garden transformation.

Oxley Nursery
Oxley Nursery

One of the biggest and best garden centres in Brisbane, this nursery specialises in rare and exotic plants that you don't tend to see on the shelves at other nurseries and plant shops. Conveniently located on the southside of Brisbane, just minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, Oxley Nursery has been growing plants in the Brisbane area for more than 30 years and stock a truly enormous range that changes weekly.

Brookfield Gardens

A place for all plant lovers and gardeners seeking inspiration or knowledge, Brookfield Gardens boasts an impressive nursery, a gift shop, a potting shed, a kitchen garden and a botanically minded bistro called Wild Canary.

Although a more recent discovery for Kimberley, this incredible slice of paradise has quickly become one of her favourites with its spectacular selection of plants, divine restaurant, homewares offering and community-centric vibe.

Kimberley cruises around Brisbane and to her family's cattle farms in the Lexus RX 350h. Among the many great features of the RX, a few standouts, according to Kimberley, are the top-tier safety features such as the safe exit assist, the exterior lighting and the Panoramic View Monitor.

"The Lexus RX is an extension of our family. Whether we’re doing school drop off, I’m heading on location to film, or we’re heading out to the farm, it ensures we get from A-B safely, in comfort, and of course style," says Kimberley.

As a Lexus of Brisbane Group ambassador, Kimberley loves being a part of the greater Lexus community and attending and facilitating Lexus events.

"Lexus of Brisbane Group supports the community, and wider charities across so many sectors, and I love that I can help facilitate those projects and events on occasion," says Kimberley.

"I feel safe and connected, and that I have an automotive family who has my back if needed, although it goes far beyond the vehicle. Buying a Lexus, comes with invitations to exclusive events, culinary affairs, adventures and more. There’s always a smiling voice on the end of every phone call, and a delicious coffee and cake in waiting for you at the dealership."
