Celebrate Queensland’s largest and most loved annual event when the gates open for the 145th Ekka, returning to the Brisbane Showgrounds for 9 fun filled days from 10-18 August, 2024.

Since 1876, the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) has been bringing the spirit of the country to the heart of the city - a must-do annual event for both city and country folks alike.

Ekka Brisbane Showgrounds

This year’s Ekka offers something for everyone with agricultural displays, free family-friendly shows, fashion parades, exciting rides, showbags, some of the nation’s finest food and wine, and the daily EkkaNITES extravaganza featuring fireworks.

Families will delight in the daytime entertainment offering at Ekka this year. All aboard as the Dinosaur Train live show bounds onto the main stage for the very first time – for the first 7 days of Ekka. Then there will be a final weekend of fun on 17 and 18 August when two of the biggest names in children’ s entertainment will be taking to the Main Stage in the Channel 7 Pavilion.

Orange butterflies will be fluttering when beloved children’s entertainer Emma Memma takes to the Ekka stage for the very first time on Saturday 17 August.  See Bluey and her little sister Bingo during their Live Interactive Experience at the Ekka on Sunday 18 August.

Of course, a must-visit for the young and young-at-heart is one of the Ekka’s most popular attractions, the Animal Nursery. This year the Nursery will host more than 550 adorable animals, with everything from the larger furry friends such as llamas, alpacas, donkeys, calves, sheep, goats and a miniature horse; to the cute and cuddly piglets, kids, lambs, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and rabbits.

While there, be sure to take advantage of the many amazing specials on offer at this year’s budget conscious Ekka! For the first time ever, every Ekka food vendor has to offer a low-cost menu item $10 or less and a value food and drink bundle. Also offering great value is the RNA’s brand new discount food outlet, the Ekka Tuck Shop which will sell hot snack food for $5 or less.

Good to know - There will also be the return of the hugely popular daily two for one ride session from 9.30am to 10.30am every morning of Ekka in the B105 Sideshow Alley and Kids Carnival area.

Need to know - People can take advantage of discounted ticket offers in the lead up to and during Ekka. Currently you can get 15% off entry tickets if you subscribe to the Ekka website and if you purchase on a Super Saver Day (Monday 12 August, Tuesday 13 August, Thursday 15 August and Friday 16 August) you get a further 20% off – a total saving of over 30%.
