The annual James Street Food & Wine Trail returns for a fabulous foodie weekend dedicated to showcasing James Street's celebrated dining scene, on July 27 & 28, 2024.

First launched in 2012, the James St Food + Wine Trail (JSWFT) will kick off on Saturday 27 July with an array of in-venue events, menu pairings and activities before culminating in the much-loved Market Day event on Sunday 28 July when James Street transforms into a pedestrian dining avenue for the culinary curious.

The JSFWT event schedule will launch to the popping of corks on Saturday 27 July, when ESSA will host a champagne lunch featuring a four-course set menu, including caviar and crab crumpets and a limited-edition champagne menu from 12–3PM.

Cru Bar too, keen to show off their newly renovated space, will also let the liquid gold flow from 12–2PM with a Shaw + Smith tasting featuring Single Vineyard wines, alongside the Cru Cellar staples of Sauvignon Blanc + M3 Chardonnay.

Neighbours, the newly opened ēmmē will kick off the Food Trail feasting early with A Taste of The Middle East dinner on Saturday 27 July from 5–9PM, while Saturday evening JSFWT activities continue at Lobby Bar, watch the sun go down and the street pop up (for Sunday’s Market) with snacks on the house with drink purchases for Aperitivo Hour from 6–8PM.

Renowned nationally for its celebrated and awarded restaurants and venues, James St’s popular Market Day event (10AM – 5PM, Sunday 28 July) invites the community to sample restaurant quality fare from 26 leading James St venues within the alfresco confines of James Street.

Over 7,500 square metres of James St’s prime roadway, laneways, carparks and outdoor spaces – bounded by Sixes And Sevens at the top (Arthur St) and Gemelli at the McLachlan St end of the event – will give way to live entertainment, kids activities and James St itself turning into one giant shared dining space for all to enjoy.

JSFWT 2024 reflects James St’s ever growing dining scene with the highest number of participating food and bar stalls popping up to date. Thirty-nine market stalls, representing existing and new James St hospitality venues, will pop out onto the street for one day only to offer quality restaurant fare in what has become one of our neighbourhood’s most loved community events.

New additions to the Market Day culinary line-up include: ēmmē, Sushi Room (featuring a live tuna carving display at 2PM), James & Antler and Agnes Bakery who will join the JSFWT honour role of participating venues including Gerard’s, Harveys and Hellenika.

As always, the family friendly Market Day event (Sunday 28 July) continues remain free to enter and is this year expected to welcome more then 25,000 attendees from 10AM–5PM.

The line-up of JSFWT activities and offers across the Saturday and Sunday continue with limited edition flavours at both Gelato Messina and Jocelyn’s Provisions, a special menu pairing at King Arthur Café and discounted stays at The Calile Hotel offering JSFWT attendees the opportunity to stay at a discounted rate during JSFWT when using the code JSFWT24,
