BEIRUT BAZAAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Beirut Bazaar is a funky Lebanese restaurant and tapas bar nestled in the base of the heritage-listed Peter's Ice Cream factory in West End's West Village precinct.

Entry is via Boundary St - follow the garden path to the landmark factory where there is seating on the terrace overlooking the lawn or inside the industrial chic interior.

The comprehensive menu features an abundance of delicious traditional dishes, starting with Cold or Hot Mezze. The former includes vine leaves, hummus awarma (hummus with marinated lamb and spices, Mohammara (spicy red capsicum & chilli flavoured dip with garlic, olive oil and pomegranate molasses) or Musaka (fried eggplant with capsicum, garlic, onion and tomato).

Hot Mezze include fried Kibbe, Aranabeet (caukiflower pieces with Lebanese sauce) and Sambousek (fried pastry pockets filled with meat or cheese).

House speciality is the delectable shawarma (slow-roasted on a spit) with a choice of chicken, lamb or vegetable and dishes from the grill including shish tawook (chicken) and kafta or lahim mashwi (meatball or lamb skewers).

Another signature dish is Beirut Bazaar Specialty Chicken (fried Lebanese spice-coated chicken) with coleslaw and chips. Or, for something different, try the traditional Lebanese fish and chips.

Can't decide? Then go for the Beirut Bazaar Platter for 2 or 4 - a true feast where you'll get to sample most of the delicious fare. And to accompany you can enjoy a Lebanese Arak or one of the house cocktails like Arak All Night (Gin, Arak, grapefruit and lime), Lebanese Lemonade (vodka, rose water, lemon and mint) or Amardeeen Sour (Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla, orange blossom and apricot).

Beirut Bazaar is also a tapas bar, where you can enjoy a Lebanese Arak or one of the house cocktails like Arak All Night (Gin, Arak, grapefruit and lime), Lebanese Lemonade (Ketel One vodka, rose water, lemon and mint) or Amardeeen Sour (Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla, orange blossom and apricot).

These go down a treat with small plates to share including falafel, chicken wings with garlic butter, lemon juice and coriander, Makanek (marinated Lebanese spiced sausages) or Batata barra (traditional vegetarian croquettes made from chick pea, garlic and secret spice, served with tahini sauce. There's also a selection of house-made dips (including baba ghanoush and hummus) to share.

Need to know - Beirut Bazaar is also open for lunch.
