Mrs Luu's

Bowen Hills

Mrs Luu’s brings fresh budget Vietnamese food to a back street of Bowen Hills, a second arm of their highly successful no-frills eatery Mrs Luu’s Vietnamese Canteen in Milton.

At lunchtime local office workers queue out onto the footpath for their quick fix of delicious banh mi, rice paper rolls and bang bang chicken salad and Vietnamese iced coffee.

Like its Milton counterpart the menu is all about simplicity and efficiency, and meals can be taken away or eaten al fresco at a bench under an umbrella.

The signature Mrs Luu’s banh mi comes with beef, chicken, omelette, pork or multi (3 little piggies) fillings, while Rice Bowl options are beef, chicken, pork meatballs, tofu or pork. Rice noodle salads include most of the same except with pork spring rolls instead of meatballs. There are also a couple of daily salads and portions are generous.

Rice paper roll fillings include prawn and pork or BBQ pork and as well as the iced coffee to drink customers can enjoy a refreshing coconut juice or lemon iced tea.

Need to know: At the time of writing Mrs Luu’s had no sign – just look for the black umbrellas and the queue (which thankfully is fast-moving) on the corner of Thompson and Murray St. And you don’t have to be a nearby worker to take a detour here – it’s worth it.
