Super Whatnot Bar

Cbd

SUPERWHATNOT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN JANUARY 2022.

Mall escapees and first timers to Super Whatnot, an ambient cubby hole of a bar should note that despite its even numbered address it lives on the odd side of Brisbane's oldest lane, Burnett Lane (which may simply be a case of anti-advertising being taken to a clever new level).

For, like any self-respecting cool bar, it is signless, with just an S super-imposed on a W on the outside wall.

Super Whatnot Brisbane City

Occupying the shell of an old beauty school, the walls have been scraped back to expose the original hand-hewn brick, industrial lights provide a warm yellow glow and a line-up of skulls hold court behind the bar. And with a tiny drinking space divided into an upstairs iron-railed balcony and a sunken conversation pit on the lower level, get in early to get a seat.

Wine of substance (think Gruner Veltliner) is served in stemless bulb glasses, the beer is boutique, the spirits top shelf and clever cocktails available off the non-list as are gourmet nibbles.
