Spend a Day Out With Thomas the Tank Engine and friends this summer school holiday at The Workshops Rail Museum, Ipswich from December 27 to January 26, 2024.

Everyone’s favourite #1 blue engine and his friends are making their annual pilgrimage from the Island of Sodor to The Workshops Rail Museum at Ipswich for this fun-filled family event, bringing favourite characters and themed activities, much to the delight of young Thomas fans.

For the first time ever, this day of railway adventures will celebrate the magic and beauty of colour at Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour. Experience family-friendly activities guaranteed to bring a splash of colour and plenty of smiles to your day!

Things to see and do:  

• Meet Thomas the Tank Engine and Sir Topham Hatt in person.  
• Find Thomas and friends around the museum and be rewarded.  
• Enjoy carnival rides*  
• Face painting 
• Dive into the Thomas play pit, including wooden track building.  
• Find the hidden Thomas trains on the huge model railway.  
• Take a break and watch a Thomas movie.  
• Get crafty with Thomas activities including colouring-in, arts and crafts.  
• Let off steam in the indoor adventure playground and expansive grounds.   

Day Out With Thomas: Under the Stars 

Day Out With Thomas takes on a whole new dimension as it transforms into an enchanting evening adventure on Saturday, January 20 from 5pm-8pm. Experience the magic of Thomas and friends under the twinkling starts with this unique celebration. 

Breakfast with Sir Topham Hatt

Sensory Friendly Session

For children with sensory processing needs, there will be two special sensory friendly sessions with Thomas on Saturday, January 6 and Wednesday, January 17. The Museum will turn the sound down and create a calm, engaging, fun space for children with sensory processing needs to share Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour with their families and carers. Numbers are limited so don't delay booking.
