Eastern Portal Tiny Door

West End

The newest addition to Brisbane’s tiny doors has arrived in West End, and it has a secret!

Named the Eastern Portal, this beautiful fairy door is by Brisbane’s favourite guerilla artist, Mace Robertson, the talented creator behind many of Brisbane’s small doors dotted around the city.

Set in a wall of stone, it’s rumoured this door is a portal to a sister door that the artist installed in Fremantle, Western Australia, aptly named the Western Portal. If anyone discovers the secret knock or special password and ends up being transported to the other side of the country, please let us know. (By the way, we tried abracadabra and it didn’t work).

What’s most beautiful about this tiny door installation is the stunning artwork by a local Indigenous artist known as Jenny M. Depicting the Brisbane River, the perfect dot painting style used perhaps suggests the artist’s sense of energy or the aura enjoyed when in proximity to the affectionately-named Brown Snake of Brisbane.
