Momo Chicken

Newmarket

Momo Chicken is one of Brisbane's best Korean fried chicken restaurants, with outlets in the city and Newmarket Village.

Occupying a sizeable space including the sunken interior of the shop front, Momo Chicken's dining area spills out into a faux garden area adjacent to the car park, where there's plenty of room for kids and prams and here well-behaved dogs on leash are also welcome to join their owners.

On the menu are smaller dishes and add-ons such as a mini Korean Bento (rice, ham, egg, seaweed flakes & sesame oil), corn cheese (delicious corn, melted cheese, mayo and butter served in a hot pan); cheese fondue (Korean style), stick chips with momo dressing and loaded fries with cheese and chicken thigh.

True to their name, chicken is the hero in almost all of Momo's menu items, including burgers,  (classic, chicken cheese, chicken slaw, Nashville, Chicken Stacker), all of which are made with milk buns, lettuce and tomato and come with a side of fries.

There's also Momo Bao Buns (3 fried bao buns with boneless chicken, lettuce & aioli) which are highly recommended, as well as beef bulgogi burger and a garden burger (vegan pattie, lettuce, tomato, pickles, Momo veganaise and special sauce on a potato bun).

Rice meals include Kimchi chicken fried rice, beef bulgogi rice, chicken mayo rice and Bipimbap, but the hero here are the fried chicken boards, including the Boneless three set (fried chicken with 3 different flavours) and their signature whole or half fried or boneless chicken.

For the more adventurous there are the Momo Specials such as Volcano chicken (chicken thigh, onion, rice cakes, shallt, zucchini and volcano sauce) and Momo's signature hot chicken feet. Then, to finish, traditional desserts include sweet Korean pancake and oreo or mango Bingsu.

Good to know - Momo Korean is child-friendly with a kids menu of mini chicken tenders or chicken bites with special sauce.
