Those lovable geeks on The Big Bang Theory have surely helped the “It’s hip to be square” mantra along in recent years, so geeks, nerds, Trekkies and all kinds of comic book and superhero aficionados can hold their heads up high when visiting Daily Planet Comics in Ipswich. 

One of three stores with the name (the other two are in Brisbane city and Chermside), the shop sits comfortably in Ipswich’s eclectic Top of Town area in Brisbane Street, just a few doors up from another specialty shop, model and hobby store, C.J. Vogler & Son.

A mecca for anything comic-related, Daily Planet Comics stocks all your favourite comics, manga, posters, t-shirts, trading cards and other merchandise such as bobble heads. You’ll find graphic novels from well-known brands such as DC and Marvel, and magazines including Cinefex, about motion picture visual effects.

The shop has got it all, with mainstream favourites like The Amazing Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man and Transformers alongside rare and collectable items if you’re prepared to part with the money to have that much-treasured piece to impress your friends and turn them into envious green-eyed incredible hulks. 

Since opening in August, 2013, the Ipswich version of Daily Planet Comics has seen a steady stream of happy customers, thanks to the helpful staff who are just as passionate as the customers about their comics.
