Rewind Mid-Century

Shorncliffe

Rewind Mid-Century is a secret Aladdin’s cave of furniture and home décor from the 1950's to the '70's that occupies the old Fisherman’s Co-Op at Shorncliffe down by the seafood trawlers on Cabbage Tree Creek.

For vintage and retro aficionados of this period, Rewind Mid-Century is an absolute must visit and well worth a day trip for here, beautifully set out just like a new and stylish furniture showroom, is a sizable collection of the best and most beautifully restored pieces and wares that you will ever find.

Parker and Fler dining suites, Danish lounge suites, egg chairs, nest tables, 1960s chrome and perspex dining sets and 1970s arc lamps, Noblett sideboards, Italian ceramic lamps and seagrass matting are just the tip of what you can expect to find here.

Amongst the myriad of other possibilities are bamboo tiki style bars, petal mirrors, chrome ashtrays, flamingo candles, copper wall art, macramé and string wall hangings, donkey planter boxes and boomerang side tables.

And if you’re after retro pool inflatables, here at Rewind you’ll find a cracking choice including pineapple lilos, watermelons and pink flamingos.

Owner Colette, who for many years ran a similar store in Yeronga and her partner, who is the able craftsman behind the restorations, are the force behind Rewind Mid-Century and as well as selling impeccably turned out furniture, have a ‘before’ section out back where pieces arrive in their original condition and customers can choose pieces or sets from out here and either restore it themselves or select fabrics etc that they would like and Colette and her partner can organise it to be custom-restored.
