If you have a child on social media, this FREE event - Mastering Children’s Mental Health in the Digital Age - is for you!

Held at TAFE South Bank on Thursday, August 8, Professor Selena Bartlett, a leading Queensland neuroscientist, has convened an important forum for people to help them better understand social media use and mental health in children.

Mastering Children's Mental Health in the Digital Age

Mastering Children’s Mental Health in the Digital Age will discuss how social media is impacting young people’s brain development. It will also give you the tools to empower yourself navigating today’s daunting online world.

Professor Selena Bartlett will use her 30 years of research into brain health to help the whole community – educators, policy makers, employers, non-profit organisations and parents – understand mental health and resilience in children, setting them up for life.

Mastering Children's Mental Health in the Digital Age

Professor Bartlett will be joined by Professor Jeff Brand, Bond University games researcher and author of the Australia Plays series; Sam Jockel of Parent TV and the Seen documentary; and Melanie Pilling, Weekend Editor of The Courier Mail and Sunday Mail who has led its 'Let Them Be Kids' campaign.

Attendees will also get a free audio copy of Professor Bartlett’s book, Being Seen, which cuts through the noise of the digital age to offer educators and parents a science-backed, practical guide to nurture their children’s brain health, manage stress and foster resilience to be safe online.

“Children are ‘Being Seen’ by their smart devices and social media more than by us,” she says. “But this isn’t just about limiting screen time – it’s about understanding the neuroscience of brain development and face to face connection.”
