Moon Bar

Burleigh Heads

Moon Bar is the after dark incarnation of Harvest Café, a spiffy Brit-style bar based on the latest happening drinking holes in Bath, found tucked away down a Burleigh alleyway.

The majority of the bar fittings are re- or upcycled, with tables from the old Burleigh Bowling alley (made from USA Ponderosa pine) and a clock that ticks but doesn’t go past 12, along with a back lit wine cabinet, flock wallpaper, a wrap around couch, candles and fresh flowers.

Cocktails are divided into phases of the moon, that sort things out perfectly according to time of night: Crescent – crisp Aperitifs, sangria and champagne cocktails; 1st Quarter – Citrus time andClassics including Daiquiris, Tom Collins and Margaritas; Gibbon Moon – Mojitos and Mules; and the late night or Waning Phase – Premium spirits over ice, Manhattans and Negronis.

Recommended are the Spiced Kiwi Mule from the Gibbon phase – a heady mix of fresh kiwi fruit, lime, Habanero-infused agave and Brookvale Ginger Beer, from the First Quarter a cucumber and elderflower infused Tom Collins and from the Waning Phase the Bramble – the British answer to the Cosmopolitan that came into being in London in 1984.

For the up-late crowd there are coffee-infused cocktails such as the Don Fecundo (named after the 19th century Spanish/Cuban distillery) Iced Coffee – El Meridiano espresso with vanilla and cinnamon foam.

In addition to cocktails there’s Kolsch and Pale Ale on tap, a wide range of ciders, bottled beer including ESB English ale, Stout and German Hefeweizen, a handful of boutique red and white wines, Italian, Spanish and French champagne, American and Scotch whisky and other spirits.

Need to know: Food is also available from the adjacent Harvest Café kitchen.
