Rocky Hole

Mt Mee

Rocky Hole is an idyllic series of bush rock pools in the Mt Mee section of D’Aguilar National Park, that makes a great natural swimming spot on a hot summer’s day.

Located about 8km from popular picnic spot and historic sawmill site The Gantry (and approx. 90 mins from Brisbane), Rocky Hole is reached by an unsealed road that also leads to scenic lookouts Bulls Falls and Falls Lookout as well as the Neurum Creek Camping Grounds and in good weather is do-able (with care) by non-4WD vehicles.

A small car park is off road and from there steps lead down to the rock pools, which are surrounded by dry eucalypt forests and feature caves, rocky platforms and carved stairs.

The pools are mostly shallow, with a few deep spots and the immediate area with the main pools that are first from the staircase gets very busy on hot summer days during holidays and weekends. Trek a little further away and there are more rock pools that are less inhabited.

Need to know – There are no toilet or other amenities here and limited space on surrounding rocks for gatherings and picnics. Diving and jumping is totally forbidden.
